Counterfeit Mitigation Support
Supply Chain Risk Management for the Aerospace & Defense Industry
If it can be made, it can be counterfeited. Counterfeit parts have been around as long as there have been supply chains. As obsolescence increases and modernization budgets are decreased or deferred, aging systems are used even more, leading to more failures and an increased demand for legacy parts. Add all this to inadequate parts purchasing planning by manufacturers and insufficient notice given to customers of production termination, and increased counterfeiting is inevitable. It can enter the supply chain at any stage, but it will assuredly have a significant effect on the entire process. That’s why ARINC takes an end-to-end approach, providing expertise and leadership throughout the supply chain, rather than offering just the next tool or capability.
Without a formal reporting and controlling process, or internal industry policies and preventative procedures, counterfeiting in the supply chain can be particularly dangerous—especially when it occurs with parts procured for sophisticated weapons systems and warfighter support equipment. ARINC’s Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) mitigation procedures have become well documented and integrated within the Department of Defense (DoD) and industry Supply Chain Risk Management (SCRM). We are able to provide unbiased, objective analysis because we aren’t a manufacturer and we’ll customize the whole process starting with the initial acquisition in the design, sustainment, or any other phase of the life cycle.
Whether it’s a legacy system or new system support, ARINC will:
- Design an approach ensuring you procure the correct items-of-supply and not counterfeits
- Help identify and control reliable sources for effective counterfeit part or DMSMS mitigation
- Customize metrics and status reporting
- Provide instructor-led or online course training “Preventing Counterfeit Parts from Entering the DoD Supply System” (DAU course CLL-032)
- Leverage our global communications network and cyber security capabilities to provide positive and secure control of shipped parts
- Protect sensitive source-of-supply and receiver information
